Stories of Food, Culture & Regional Cuisine from the Road

Rideshare Profile Photo.jpg

Kreskin J. Torres, known as “The Rideshare Foodie,” is an American from Baltimore, Maryland, an author and cultural explorer traveling across all 50 U.S. states in search of authentic regional cuisine.

For nearly a decade, he has explored the country by road with a clear purpose: to understand the people, cultures, and communities that shape America. He approaches each place with a willingness not just to observe, but to participate and immerse himself in local life.

Driving for Lyft and other rideshare platforms, he turns everyday rides into cultural exchanges. His passengers become his guides, leading him to hidden restaurants and neighborhood staples that define their communities.

After more than 400,000 miles on the road, he has met locals, shared meals, and documented real experiences from small towns to major cities.

Kreskin doesn’t chase trends, restaurants, or food alone, he chases tradition, history, and the stories that connect them.

His work documenting American communities through conversation and cuisine has been featured in The Baltimore Sun, Business Insider, Yahoo, and national television appearances including Fox & Friends.

IT'S A JOURNEY

OF CONNECTION,

CULTURE & COMMUNITY.

From everyday conversations to regional culture, Rideshare Foodie explores the human side of America.

Growing up in 1990s Baltimore, Kreskin J. Torres learned early that environment shapes perspective. Raised in a city known for both its grit and its deep sense of community, he developed a curiosity about people, neighborhoods, and the different ways Americans live, communicate, and connect. What began as a simple desire to see more of the country eventually became something much larger: a journey across all 50 states to better understand America through conversation, culture, food, and human experience.

Rideshare Foodie: The Principles of Travel chronicles the beginning of that journey — from the mindset shifts that pushed Torres beyond fear and familiarity to the countless rideshare conversations that transformed everyday travel into a living archive of regional American stories. Along the way, riders from all walks of life share honest perspectives on family, hardship, success, identity, migration, regional pride, and community, revealing the cultural heartbeat of each place he visits.

Blending travel memoir, cultural storytelling, and personal reflection, the book explores the principles that shaped his journey, including:

  • Curiosity over judgment

  • Conversation as connection

  • Adaptability in unfamiliar environments

  • Respect for regional culture

  • Finding community through food

  • Listening before speaking

  • Embracing discomfort and uncertainty

  • Recognizing dignity in everyday people

  • Understanding that every place has value

  • Leaving places better than you found them

From hole-in-the-wall restaurants and overlooked small towns to major cities and cross-country road trips, Torres shines a spotlight on local businesses, regional dishes, and the everyday people behind them. More than a travel story, this is a book about growth, perspective, and discovering how much Americans truly have in common when they sit down, share a meal, and talk honestly with one another.

Every mile teaches a lesson. Every conversation leaves an impact. Every culture has a story worth telling.
